CHRIS PORTER
Senior Manager, Brampton
I am thrilled to be joining Making Waves and to help provide you and your kiddos an amazing experience with their ‘learn to swim’ journey. I’ve been in the Aquatics and Hospitality industry for almost 2 decades and look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with the team. My passion lies with the growth and development of swimmers and coaches while creating a fun and friendly environment for all. I love spending time with family and friends and going on hikes with my 2 lovely dogs.

NATHALIE BARRAGAN
Assistant Manager, Brampton
Hello, you can call me Nat! I love to travel as I have visited Colombia, Mexico and New York!! One day I hope to visit Germany. When i’m not at the pool, you can catch me going to the movies, out to dinner or shopping! My favourite thing about Making Waves is the friendly staff I get to work with everyday. Even though I love teaching children how to swim, I am striving to become a school teacher too! Come visit me at the pool!

How old does my child need to be to learn to swim?
Learning to swim has so many benefits. Not only does swimming build motor skills, provide numerous health benefits, and improve cognitive function, but it can also reduce your likelihood of drowning by up to 88% in children ages 1 to 4––which makes it a life saving skill. But despite a parent’s desire for their children to learn to swim, a lot of parents wonder what age is appropriate for them to start.

Swimming Lesson Tips for Beginners
